Do You Know What a Network Video Recorder (NVR) is?

A Network Video Recorder (NVR) is a specialized computer system that includes a software program that records video in a digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card or other mass storage device. An NVR is typically deployed in an IP video surveillance system. Network video recorders are distinct from digital video recorders (DVR) as their input is from a network rather than a direct connection to a video capture card or tuner. Video on an NVR is encoded and processed at the camera, then streamed to the NVR for storage or remote viewing.

The EC-NVR16128 NVR is a 128 Channel NVR, which is referred to as the “16128” series. The first two numbers refer to how many hard drives the unit can hold, and the last three numbers denote how many channels, or cameras it can accommodate.

The EC-NVR864 NVR is a 64 Channel NVR, which is referred to as the “864” series. The first number refers to how many hard drives the unit can hold, and the last two numerals denote how many channels, or cameras it can accommodate.

These two NVR’s are a 16 Channel NVR and a 32 Channel NVR, which are referred to as the “416” and “432” series. The first number refers to how many hard drives the unit can hold, and the last two digits denote how many channels, or cameras they will accommodate.

These two NVRs are a 4 Channel NVR and 8 Channel NVR, which are referred to as the “104” and “108” series. The first number refers to how many hard drives the unit can hold, and the last numeral denotes how many channels, or cameras they will accommodate.
